The Top 20 Movies & Shows to Die for This Month

If you’re loving, hating, or just not caring about the third season of White Lotus, at least one thing’s for certain: there are a lot of strong opinions about it!

Regardless of how you feel about it, we have a little known secret to share about its theme: While season one focused on money, and season two on sex, the third season’s “death and spirituality” theme is actually shared by some of the greatest movies and shows released in 2025 and the few years leading up to it.

1. The White Lotus, Season 3 (Series 2025)

3. True Detective, Season 1 (Series 2014)

Murder, mysticism, and detectives on the edge—what’s not to love?

Crime, Drama, Mystery. Award-winning Series.

Where to Watch: Max

Detectives Rust Cohle (Matthew McConaughey) and Marty Hart (Woody Harrelson) chase a ritualistic serial killer across 17 years, but the real horror lurks in Rust’s existential rants about death, consciousness, and the great abyss. With hypnotic cinematography and dialogue that sticks to your soul, this is crime drama as a spiritual crisis.
